Rauf Yasit, also known by his stage name RubberLegz, is a choreographer, director, dancer, and visual artist based in Los Angeles. Originally from Germany, he was immersed in the world of dance from a young age as his father, a folklore-dance teacher, introduced him to traditional folk dances.
At an early age, RubberLegz developed a deep passion for Breaking, a style of street dance. As a self-taught B-Boy, he dedicated himself to honing his skills and nurturing his passion, starting in 1998. His exceptional ability to contort his body into astonishing shapes and positions earned him the nickname "RubberLegz" from his mentor Maxim. His unique style and talent gained international recognition, leading him to compete in and judge competitions worldwide. To this day, he continues to captivate audiences and share his knowledge through performances and workshops across the globe.
In 2007, RubberLegz expanded his repertoire to include contemporary dance productions. With relentless hours of training, he transformed his childhood dream into his life's work and true passion.
RubberLegz's extraordinary talent and innovative approach to dance were acknowledged when he was awarded "Best Dancer 2019" by Danza&Danza Magazine for his groundbreaking style that transcends dance genres.
Throughout his career, RubberLegz has collaborated with renowned institutions and artists such as William Forsythe, the National Opera of Paris, USC, CalArts, LACMA, and many others. His diverse body of work extends beyond dance and includes partnerships with notable brands like Nike, Burberry, Puma, and GAP.
While pursuing his dance career, RubberLegz also obtained a diploma in 3D Visualization and Animation. Prior to relocating to Berlin, he worked as a visual artist for professional design agencies, showcasing his creative versatility.
Currently based in Los Angeles, RubberLegz dedicates himself to numerous projects, harnessing his skills in photography, design, and dance to push boundaries and create art that transcends disciplines.
