Placido from Palermo, possesses a martial arts background that he commenced studying at the age of 12. However, his pursuits leaned towards choreographic demonstrations rather than actual combat. Following an injury, he turned to contemporary dance as a means of rehabilitation and developed a profound affinity for it due to its exploration of physical perception.
Then he crossed paths with a group of like-minded individuals who shared a fervor for juggling and circus arts. Their rendezvous took place in an abandoned church in S.Basilio, the sole available space in the city for their training sessions. It was through this experience that his passion for the circus blossomed, recognizing its boundless potential for expressive freedom and creativity, enabling him to transcend the confines of dance and martial arts.
His initiation into the circus arts began with verticalism, subsequently acquainting himself with the Focolieri company and incorporating acrobatics and contortions into his repertoire. While traveling alongside them, he realized the necessity for professional training. After some experimentation, he made the decision to enroll at the Cirko Vertigo School, focusing on body posture to delve deeper into verticalism and acrobatics. With an unconventional approach, he prefers to explore alternative forms of support rather than relying solely on traditional handstands. Additionally, he possesses a fervor for mano a mano and aims to pursue it in tandem with balancing. Displaying unwavering dedication, he devotes eight hours a day to his practice when he discovers something he truly enjoys.
However, he acknowledges the challenges associated with finding a comprehensive and integrated training program. Attending a school may entail sacrificing valuable experiences gained from performing shows, while solely concentrating on shows might impede the focus necessary for technical study and creative development.
