Marco Motta is a versatile artist hailing from Salvador Bahia, Brazil, who has established himself as a contortionist, dancer, and aerial acrobat specializing in aerial straps. Currently residing in Spain, he has embarked on a remarkable journey in the world of circus arts.
His exploration of body movement commenced at the age of 16 through disciplines such as capoeira and breakdancing (bboying). Demonstrating his exceptional talent, he has actively participated in numerous circus festivals, earning notable accolades along the way. These include the 3rd prize at the Firco Festival, the 2019 CircusTalk Critic's Choice, and the special prize of the jury at the 38e Festival Mondial Du Cirque de Demain. Marco's performances have garnered attention due to his distinctive style that diverges from the prevailing aesthetic.
Despite the challenging and turbulent environment of his upbringing, he was immersed in a vibrant culture of dance, art, and the captivating rhythms of Africa. This upbringing fostered a profound and enduring appreciation for the arts, which served as a source of solace and inspiration during the tumultuous period of adolescence.
As he transitioned into puberty, he became acutely aware of the prevalent issues of poverty and racism that afflicted the marginalized communities surrounding him. Tragically, he experienced the loss of several friends due to the violence that plagued his neighborhood. It was during this time that he discovered breakdancing, which provided him with solace and became his primary outlet for artistic expression.
Through the transformative power of dance, he embarked on a journey that led him to explore various other dance forms, ultimately guiding him to the captivating world of circus.
